L.A. Noire: Then and Now

Added on by Alex Koehne.

If you don't know about L.A. Noire, you check it out. It's an awesome game that came out recently for PS3 and XBox 360. It takes place in Los Angeles in 1947 and you play a detective who follows clues to solve crimes. The voice acting is top notch (at least for a video game) and the facial tracking is truely impressive. The actors, many of which are principals in Mad Men, are not only recognisable, but give performances nuanced enough to be clues in and of themselves.

The other amazing thing the game designers did incredibly well was recreating Los Angeles in 1947. There is so much detail, it really is astounding. You can drive all over a huge area of L.A. from Hollywood through downtown. It actually takes about half an hour to get between them. I've been loving exploring, learning about Los Angeles history, all while killing bad guys with tommy guns.

The point of this post is actually to link my lovely readers to these videos over at Kotaku which are of three guys going around L.A. and showing the locations featured in L.A. Noire. You can also see a good gallery of images here.
