On Tuesday night I went to go see Mother Mother at The Satellite (the venue formerly known as Spaceland). I'd been hearing about Mother Mother for a while - mostly via my friend Zach and his music blog WeListenForYou.com - but I'd never gotten around to checking out their albums. I'm very glad I finally did.
Check out Zach's "fan music video" for their song "Hay Loft":
They put on a great live show! Having never heard most of their songs before, I found the music very captivating. They are sharp, focused and full of energy. The quality of their performances suggests they are more than ready for prime time - and from what I understand, they are already there... in Canada. They are a Canadian band and have yet to catch on here like they have up north. Still, they seem to be well on their way. Three albums in is probably a little late to be able to play the, "I listened to them before they were cool" hipster card, but at this point, you'd still be ahead of the curve if you jump on board now.
Here are a few of their music videos:
If you dig them, I definitely recommend you go and snag an album or two. All three of their albums are solid and worth the purchase. I've been listening to them non-stop for the last three days. Here is their iTunes page and here is their Amazon page. Also, check out their website here.
